10 Hot Drinks for the Christmas Holiday
6. JERSEY FLASH
Ingredients:
- 4 cloves (whole)
- 1-1/2 oz gin
- 1 tsp honey or sugar syrup
- Pinch cinnamon
- Grated nutmeg
- Hot apple cider or apple juice
- Lemon peel
Mixing instructions:
Rinse out a heat-proof mug with boiling water and add honey, cloves, cinnamon, lemon peel, and a little boiling water to dissolve honey. Pour in warmed gin, ignite, blaze for a few seconds, and fill mug with hot cider. Sprinkle with grated nutmeg.

7. MULLED CIDER (SINGLE SERVING)
Ingredients:
- 4 cloves (whole)
- 1-1/2 oz gold rum
- 1 cup apple cider or apple juice
- 1 tsp honey or sugar syrup to taste
- Dash Angostura bitters
- Cinnamon stick
- Grated nutmeg
- Pinch ground allspice
- Lemon twist
Mixing instructions:
Heat all ingredients in a saucepan and strain into a warmed mug. Simply multiply all the ingredients in the same saucepan to increase the number of servings.An alternative method of making this drink is to put all ingredients into a tankard (if you have one!) and froth by plunging a red-hot poker into the mixture.

8. HOT MINT CHOCOLATE
Ingredients:
- 5 to 6 oz hot chocolate
- 1 oz peppermint schnapps
Mixing instructions:
Pour peppermint schnapps into a heatproof mug or glass. Fill with hot chocolate and stir.
Option: Garnish with a candy cane or rim the mug or glass with crushed candy cane.

9. HOT BRANDY FLIP
Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 oz brandy (or rum, whisky or gin may be used)
- 1 egg (whole)
- 1 tsp sugar syrup or to taste
- Grated nutmeg
Mixing instructions:
Mix all ingredients, except nutmeg, in a blender and pour into a saucepan. Heat gently and pour into a warm Delmonico glass and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Some recipes call for 2 to 4 oz of milk, which may be used for those who like a longer drink.

10. ADULT HOT CHOCOLATE
Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 oz peppermint schnapps
- 1 cup hot chocolate
- 1 generous tbsp whipped cream
Mixing instructions:
Pour hot chocolate and schnapps into a warmed mug and stir well. Top with whipped cream.
