Flying Dog Brewery Launches “Gonzo Imperial Porter” Beer

“Good People Drink Good Beer”-- Hunter S. Thompson

Our friends at Denver’s Flying Dog Brewery have released “Gonzo Imperial Porter”, an official tribute beer honoring the late Hunter. S. Thompson. Gonzo Imperial Porter’s packaging features tribute illustrations from Hunter’s co-conspirator – world-renowned artist Ralph Steadman.

According to the breweries press release “proceeds from the sale of Gonzo Imperial Porter will help fund the building of the Gonzo Memorial Fist on Hunter's Owl Farm Estate in Woody Creek, Colorado. The huge stone monument is planned to reach a height of 150 feet and will be crowned with a giant red fist.”

Flying Dog Brewery describes the beer as a “Porter brewed with black, chocolate and crystal malts and hopped with Millennium and Cascades.
Like Hunter, Gonzo Imperial Porter is intense and complex. At (9.5% ABV) it’ll bite back if you don’t give it the proper respect!”

Trendy Drink Alert - Metaxa Wondertini and Cindy Crawford

Metaxa Wondertinin

One of the new trendy drinks this season is the Metaxa Wondertini. Apparently this new drink was first created by the husband of Cindy Crawford, the famous Gastronomer Rande Gerber. According to the German version of Glamour magazine “he came up with the idea to mix Metaxa 5* with Triple Sec, Fresh Lime and Orange juice. All this is shaken together with Cherry Puree and served in
a sugar-rimmed Martini glass.”

Trendy Drinks - BOLS launches new bottle

BOLS Liqueurs

We recently had the opportunity recently to join Phillip Duff, renowned Bartender and Mixologist from BOLS, as he was touring North America in support of BOLS launching a new bottle design.

Bols, one of the world’s leading brands of cocktail liqueurs, is shaking up the cocktail industry by mixing modern cocktail style with high energy flairtending – the art of flipping, tossing and pouring that Tom Cruise made famous in “Cocktail.” Bols’ ergonomic bottle design and premium quality liqueurs allow consumers across Canada to take home bartending to the next level.

“Consumers around the world are venturing into the role of home bartender and demanding high quality, premium liqueurs for their guests,” said Philip Duff, internationally acclaimed bartender and Bols’ Global Total Cocktails Trainer. “You no longer have to take a night out on the town to enjoy a trendy martini or specialty drink. With the variety of recipes available online and the range of liqueur flavours BOLS offers, consumers can make great tasting cocktails at home.”

Not sure what role the new bottle played in our enjoying some “Manhattan’s” made with honey and BOLS Cherry Liqueur. However, we are sure that while the bottles looked nice it’s the fact that BOLS have been making liqueurs since 1575 that made those Phillip Duff
created drinks taste truly sensational.
