"Danny Boy" banned in NY pub, in March -- including St Patrick's Day

"It’s depressing, it’s not usually sung in Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day, and its lyrics were written by an Englishman who never set foot on Irish soil." Those are only some of the reasons a Manhattan pub owner is banning the song 'Danny Boy' for the entire month of March."

So begins the Associated Press story detailing Irish-born Shaun Clancy's decision to ban the singing of Danny Boy in his New York city pub, "Foleys Pub and Restaurant."

Is Amazon going to be selling wine online?

According to The Inquirer Web site (we really read them all) Amazon has been advertising to find a "senior wine buyer" who will be in "responsible for the acquisition of massive new product selection," and "will work to build [an] entirely new selection from the ground up."

Prime-time wine

The Globe and Mail's Beppi Crosariol reports on the development of a new wine-making show called "The Wine Makers."

Crosariol describes the show as "a new television series based in California that promises to add suspense, humiliation and betrayal to wine education. Call it The Apprentice with grapes. Or, more specifically, The Apprentice with grapes and brains."


The prize for the winning wine maker includes a contract to make and market the wine and a commitment from a U.S. steakhouse chain to sell the winning wine by the glass in its restaurants across the U.S.
