CAFÉ BRŰLOT Basic

Ingredients:

  • Several Cinnamon stick 
  • 8 cloves 
  • (whole)
  • 4-5 sugar cubes 
  • , depending on sweetness desired
  • 4 oz. brandy 
  • or cognac or whisky
  • 1 pt. coffee 
  • Outer peel (zest) of 1/2 lemon 
  • Outer peel (zest) of 1/2 orange 

Mixing instructions:

Place all ingredients, except brandy and coffee, in a bru[adlot bowl or chafing dish. Soften sugar cubes with a little water and mash them into orange and lemon peels with a muddler. Add warmed brandy and mix well with other ingredients in bowl. Ignite and blaze for a few seconds and pour in hot coffee. Ladle into demitasse cups. Makes four servings.
