The RUBY Cocktail

You have heard about it on TV talk shows....
You have seen what looks like Pink Martinis being drunk in trendy bars......
You have heard the name Ruby and you know its one of the "hot" drinks....
But what is it ?

RUBY INGREDIENTS 4 oz. pink grapefruit juice 1 1/2 oz. vodka (a citrus vodka ideally) grapefruit sections INSTRUCTIONS Mix vodka and pink grapefruit juice with ice in a shaker. Strain into a sugar rimmed cocktail or martini glass. Garnish with a piece of grapefruit (option: sugar coat the grapefruit) This very popular, and trendy, pink drink owes its popularity to HBO's "Sex in the City".

Its brief history summarized:

	bar TIP Cream based liqueurs are made with cream, alcohol, and appropriate flavorings. The alcohol helps preserve the cream allowing the bottle to be stored at room temperature.

"The Ruby garnered attention when it appeared on HBO's popular series "Sex and the City." In the season finale, boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett) finally proposed to Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker). To celebrate, Carrie and girlfriend Samantha (Kim Cattrall) toasted the event with two Rubies instead of their trademark "Cosmos."
